Trends: The Studded Bra

1 Comment »

{photo via}

One item I have seen everywhere lately is the studded bra. The first thing that crossed my mind when I saw it was "well there's my next DIY." With Vancouver dropping into colder weather for fall, I may have missed the boat on this trend. To be honest, our conservative city doesn't see too many "bra as accessory" rockers out there. When I lived in Australia, it was the norm to the young 20 something crowd. I saw bras of every colour and style being displayed through shirts with purposely dropped armholes that extended below the elbow. The girls here tend to wear a more polished look, (although just as saucy) with a see-through high collared button up. I would choose the latter for a look with the studded bra, maybe in a dark burgundy colour with dark denim and black heels. What are your thoughts on this trend? Yay or nay? I've gathered below a few different ways girls have DIY'd their own version of this trend.

Hey Readers! Unfortunately I will be taking a brief hiatus this week. I'm finishing my settlement with ICBC as well as being a witness on Friday, so I'll be busy with legal mumbo jumbo. We'll be back next week!

{Bikram yoga makes me feel like this!! // photo via}

Getting back into the groove was harder than I thought it'd be. It wasn't anyone's fault but my own, and wow did I rebel hard against myself! It really is true, the only person losing out is yourself, but sometimes it is so hard to stay motivated! I've scheduled my 5 bikram yoga classes this week on google calendar + I'm determined to stick to it! I've got a friendly competition going on with Jo over at Pranayama Blogging, so that will definitely help to motivate me! I always love a good challenge. ♥

Break Out the Tights!

{ We're falling for tights! // photo via}

I love the transition to fall. The air starts to feel crisp and cold. The temperature drops in the evening slightly, allowing for cardigans + jackets, but still allowing a comfortable walk through the park. We savor the last few days of sunlight we receive here in Vancouver... and then we break out the tights!!

Usually I only buy crazy patterned opaque tights, but lately I have been in love with the transparent offering for fall! Maybe it is the fact that some of them have an almost tattoo like quality to them. I love that they make you look twice! There's been a lot of backlash against them, but that comes with anything that is not for the conservative girl. What's your take on this tattoo tight trend? Below is an example from tattoosocks on etsy:

As someone who loves tattoos, but doesn't have any (yet), I think these are a fun way for us non-inked girls to be a bit adventureous! Here are a few of my other adventurous favourites for tights this fall:

Manic Monday: Todoist

{Did I remember to send that e-mail to my boss, or is he going to throw me over a cliff? // photo via}

I'm one of those people that loves having lists. I like having multiple layers to these lists, and next to each item is a neat little box to tick off when that task is complete. For some reason this simple sense of achievement can mean the difference between me feeling accomplished or just feeling like I'm doing chores. With a list I have a challenge, and that in itself keeps me motivated. In order for me to make these lists, I recently found a nifty program called Todoist.

Not only is it super easy to use (you can make multiple tasks, with specific lists underneath each task if you like too), but it also pops you a clean + simple e-mail with your list for the day, and any expired tasks you may have missed. Now all I have to do in the morning is print out an e-mail while I'm sipping my coffee, and I'm good to go!

Time to get back on the weight loss train! Alberta was fun, as was eating whatever I pleased, but my stomach is definitely unhappy about it! I don't mean in a weight sense, but in the actual way that I feel. I've got weird gut pains + feel exhausted all the time, so it's out with gluten + back to paleo eating!

Cam + I will be stepping up our yoga, as well as with my accountability partner Jo! I'm trying to lose 21 pounds for a total of 25 pounds lost by my 25th!! For me weight loss isn't about looking a "certain way" but about being happy about myself. I want to feel happy + healthy, and for me that includes weight loss.
